Australia Day Like a Vegan

Contrary to what the ads tell you, you can still be Australian without tucking into a baby sheep on Australia Day (or any animal products for that matter!) I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite vegan recipes, perfect to take a long to any Australian backyard barbie.

Red Cabbage and Tofu Salad with Sesame Dressing

This is a light, refreshing salad which is dope for the warmer weather.

Israeli Couscous Jewel Salad

This salad doesn’t just look awesome, it tastes awesome too! Impress your guests with combination of salty and sweet flavours.

Really Good Potato Salad

No barbecue is complete with out a good potato salad, so why should you miss out on the fun?! Take this one along and it can be enjoyed by vegans and non vegans alike.

Party Pies

The Aussie pie is something you cannot escape on Australia Day so why not make your own batch to satisfying those looking for a hearty snack?

Gluten Steaks

Pre cook these bad boys and leave them in the fridge to take along to the next barbecue. They’ll be a welcome addition to a bread roll with tomato sauce and barbecued onion!

Creamy Spinach Dip in Cob Loaf

Spinach dip is a real crowd pleaser and nobody will suspect it’s vegan at all! I’d recommend buying an extra loaf of bread to break up and toast, because this one is going to be popular.

Brown Rice, Chia and Sesame Balls

These guys are the perfect size for a party and taste great. Serve them with a few different sauces and they’ll be a hit.

Chocolate, Hazelnut and Toffee Tart

If you’ve been tasked with taking a dessert along to an Australia Day barbecue, look no further than this tart. it looks impressive and tastes even better.

So there you have it, a neat little collection of bitchin’ recipes that are perfect for the Australia Day picnic.
