Gotta Have It is all about finding some of the best badass vegan products in the universe and putting them on the screen of your computer or smartphone for you to feast your eyes upon. In the 5+ years I’ve been writing Like A Vegan, I haven’t covered a lot of fashion but that’s about to change my friends because I need you to know that being vegan does not mean compromising on style.
About 6 months ago I discovered M.R.K.T. (short for Mad Rabbit Kicking Tiger) on Instagram and was immediately stoked on the stuff that was appearing on my feed; structured totes, backpacks and wallets in great colours, textures and fabrics. So when I contacted M.R.K.T. to see if they were interested in being featured, I was so pumped when they were down and also were keen to do a giveaway too!
M.R.K.T. came to be in 2010 when Harvard-trained architect (fancy!) Tom Pen decided to create accessories inspired by clean and pure form. Vibrant colours, unconventional materials, distinctive patterns and innovative construction techniques create a range of unisex accessories that will have people stopping you on the street to say “dayaaamn, where’d you get that?”

The real standout of the M.R.K.T. range for me is the Agnes Shoulder bag. Made from SMRT FELT and VEGN LEATHER, this bag will have you toting as much as Mary Poppins (well maybe not that much, but heaps). A generous main compartment is complimented by two hot pink sleeves that attach to the inside with press studs; one with a zip, perfect for storing your iPad Mini or notebook and one with compartments for cards and another slim items.
The bag is sturdy and structured, holding its shape and contents with ease but at the same time doesn’t feel uncomfortable to carry. The unisex design and colour palette make it a great option for everyone to cart around their bits and pieces, most laptops would fit inside with no worries.
For such a simple bag, the Agnes Shoulder Bag is beautiful; details like the little bunny studs, intricate cut outs on the inserts and impeccable construction give an understated and modest look but at the same time you can tell this stuff is damn good quality. You don’t necessarily just want to use this bag because it’s vegan, you want to use it because it’s awesome.
