Do you ever have those moments in the kitchen where a random idea turns into a delicious af reality? This is one of those moments, you guys. I whipped up these hella tasty Gluten Free Onion Rings with the help of a couple of products from Orgran, which you can find in most major supermarkets.

Ingredients

  • 2 small brown onions
  • 1 1/2 cups Orgran Crispi Corn Breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Orgran Vegan Easy Egg™
  • 200mL non-dairy milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Method

  1. Peel the onions and cut off the ends before slicing into rounds about 1cm thick.
  2. Pop out the layers to create a series of rings (keep even the tiny ones).
  3. In a shallow dish, mix together the Orgran Crispi Corn Breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon of salt and the pepper.
  4. In another shallow dish, whisk together the Orgran Vegan Easy Egg™ and non-dairy milk until smooth.
  5. Dip each ring of onion in the Orgran Vegan Easy Egg™ mixture to coat completely before dipping into the Orgran Crispi Corn Breadcrumbs mixture to coat completely. Set aside and repeat with the remaining onion rings.
  6. Heat the oil in a medium-sized frypan on medium-high heat. Add a few onion rings to the pan (don’t overcrowd it!) and cook until golden on one side, flip and then cook on the other side until golden.
  7. Carefully remove from the saucepan and allow to drain on paper towel. Repeat with the remaining onion rings until they are all cooked.
  8. Serve immediately with your fave sauce!
