You know what’s dope? Heaps of things, but one of them is hearing from awesome companies who are making new and exciting vegan products. It’s a growing market so sometimes it can be hard to keep abreast of what the heck is good and what should be chucked in the bin.

Yuva, which is Sanskrit for “youth”, make a range of skincare and cosmetics that are made of all naturally derived ingredients. Yuva make products free from mineral oils, lanolin, propylene glycol, sulfates, parabens, artificial colours and fragrances plus they’re Australian made and owned, bitchin’!

Now, I got my little vegan hands on two of Yuva’s products; the Vitamin C Serum and the Refreshing Body Cleanser to try and I’ve been using both products for the last month. This is what I thought…

Vitamin C Serum – $109 AUD

As if it wasn’t already obvious, the key ingredient in this product is vitamin C. In this neat little package you’ll also find some hyaluronic acid, rose, rosewood, rose geranium, chamomile, honey suckle and aloe vera. This combination of ingredients, applied daily, is formulated to get your collagen pumpin to ward off those fine lines and wrinkles. As well as that it claims to improve the overall texture of the skin but does it actually do these things? I’ve been using it over the past month and for someone who doesn’t use a great deal of skincare products, I have in fact noticed a difference in my skin. The main benefit I’ve noticed is that my skin has more of a natural glow and even tone. I know I’m only 24 but it has also managed to reduce some of the little lines I’ve been horrified to see creeping up around my eyes.

Pros

  • Brightens skin
  • Reduces lines
  • Great packaging

Cons

  • A little sticky (this does go away after a few minutes)
  • It ain’t cheap

Verdict

If you’ve got the money to spend on something that actually works, I’d give this product a try to see if it works for you. While I was shocked when I saw the price, I was also surprised by the results I got from using it. This would be a lovely gift for a special friend or family member, especially perfect for Mother’s Day.

Refreshing Body Cleanser – $41 AUD

I’m pretty chill when it comes to body wash; if it’s vegan, I’ll use it. I’ve never really looked to a body wash to actually improve my skin in anyway other than clean it but that’s precisely what this Refreshing Body Cleanser is meant to do. The key ingredients are bladderwack, petitgrain essential oil, lime essential oil, orange essential oil and grapefruit essential oil. This combination of ingredients aims to help prevent dryness and leave skin feeling silky smooth. This product is perfect for those with sensitive skin, especially for soothing skin damaged by waxing or shaving.

Pro

  • A little goes a long way
  • Great pump bottle
  • Soothed my skin

Cons

  • Pricey
  • I didn’t notice a change in skin texture

Verdict

I did really like this product, it has lasted a long time and especially soothed the skin under my arms. I think if you suffer from acne and blemishes on your body this could be worth a try however since I don’t suffer from these issues I can’t really comment on how effective this is in that department.

I would never spend this much on skincare or anything for myself. Any spare money is spent on my two little girls. Please pick me!

These products would help me confirm that im not depriving my kids, as radiant skin means a healthy gut!, healthy gut means a glorious diet!

The above is my response to your competition: but in other news as a mum for
4 under 4 (including twins hehe) I am
So tired of the “You’re irresponsible making your poor kids vegan!!!” “you are depriving them!”
But for me it’s more than just taste involved when it comes to food, it’s about compassion and actually demonstrating what you believe by being a living example. Blessings to you and your work. Xx

I love natural and animal-friendly skincare. Im getting older and my skin getting drier and desperately needs some help to fight the wrinkles forming!

I naturally have tanned skin and have had oily, unevenly toned since puberty. I’d like to see if these are worth the investment.

My beautiful girlfriend could use a break. She’s stressed, overworked and not making ends meet. I would love to be able to give her this treat. 🙂

I’m a 16y.o vegan, and it’s soo difficult to be cruelty free whilst still living at home. Pricey skincare is otherwise out of the question for me.

I have been eyeing off the YUVA Vitamin C serum for a while now, it is expensive but
YUVA is a great brand, their skin brightening scrub is amazing! Apparently Vitamin C Serums are great for treating acne scars- I would really love to try these products and see if they will help improve my skin.

Oh Vitamin C… I require thee!! Why? Just the demands of modern life me thinks… Work, motherhood, sleep deprivation, snoring hubby… Seriously this prize sounds outta sight and I would love to give it a crack. Eez.
