The first time I ever heard of chia was on that Chia Pet ad at the beginning of Wayne’s Worldย but then it kind of dropped of the radar. Over the past few years, chia has really grown in popularity as a superfood and why bloody shouldn’t it?! It’s the highest plant-based source of Omega-3, high in dietary fibre and contains all eight essential amino acids making it a ‘complete’ protein (which is rare for a plant-based protein).

The Chia Co. range of products make getting your daily dose of chia easy peasy. Not only do they produce black and white chia seeds in different quantities but they also make chia oil, which is great in salad dressings, chia bran, which is great in baking and ground chia seeds, which are great in smoothies. Chia seeds themselves are super versatile; you can make a gel and have a couple of teaspoons, add to baking (like my Oat, ย Almond and Chia Cookies), pop it in a salad or on top of cereal, the possibilities are endless!

The Chia Shots are one of my favourite products because they’re teensy individual serves of chia seeds ready t go whenever you need ’em. If you’re hitting the road for a few days, or just want to boost your meals out, take a Chia Shot along and you’re all set.

If you’re in the refrigerated section of your supermarket, also check out their Chia Puddings; individual serves of flavoured chia goodness perfect for lunch boxes and snacks on the run.

The Chia Co.’s products are easy peasy to spot because of their bright orange packaging and are available at most supermarkets, so make sure you pick up some of their awesome products next time you do your groceries!

I absolutely love chia puddings! It’s so simple to make, so healthy, filling and most of all yummy! When I am lazy I just stir it in milk and leave it overnight and add some yogurt the next day. I would love to try new recipes with it though.

I love them stirred thru Quinoa porridge. Gives a nice bit of texture. I also love them on top of a bowl of salad. Great crunch! Yum!

It’s hard to pick just one favourite use for chia seeds!

I love them to add extra crunch in granola, (the black and white ones also add a nice colour), or with oats and coconut milk in an overnight chia pudding.

I also throw a few teaspoons in when I’m baking banana bread, whizz them up in my green smoothies, and even sprinkle them over the top of a fried egg when I have a brown rice bowl for dinner.

I love that they are so versatile, and there is something about that gooey texture they go when they’re wet that is so… oddly satisfying.

I absolutely LOVE chia seeds! I use them in almost everything at home when I cook. I put them in my pancakes, in my burgers, in my oatmeal… but my favourite would have to be chia pudding or my famous chia jam; I just love making all kinds of chia jam, my favourites being raspberry jam and tomato relish jam – absolutely great on burgers and with potato fries.

I love putting a heaped spoonful of chia into my blender when making a smoothie. Something wonderful about the texture it adds. On a side note – thanks for helping unleash my repressed memories of childhood. Chia pets were truly an amazing invention ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have chia seeds everyday, everyday with my cereal and then when I’m not having cereal I pop them into my smoothie, I love them. It’s my source of omega 3 and I’m grateful for that.

I have been back into making overnight chia puddings for breakfast now that the weather has started to warm a little! Prior to that, I was chucking some in my porridge, and I always throw a few into bliss balls to take to work for a midmorning snack!

I would have previously said Chia Puddings BUT then I discovered Chia Seed Jam! So easy and much less scary than store-bought jams PLUS I can use almost any squishy fruit I find on special at my local F&V store!

I love chia seeds sprinkled on avocado on toast and the crunch they bring. Such a satisfying texture when they swell up too!

Honestly, up until 2 years ago I dont think I had ever heard of Chia. Then I started seeing the funkly little chia seed pots and sachets around and wondered what the fuss could be about. Wish I had discovered Chia ages ago now….such versatile and healthy stuff. And that is exactly it….versatile.

My favourite use is adding it to my vegan cheesecake base.Other than that a simple sprinkling over my porridge on cold winter mornings is perfect. I grew up in Scotland so porridge is obligatory. ๐Ÿ™‚

Chia puddings of course! Blitzed up with some coconut milk ice cubes, cacao and agave. My go to treat that I don’t feel guilty eating. A handful of chia seeds is also great in smoothies.

Man, what doesn’t chia do?
I throw it in with curries/stews to thicken sauces, sprinkle it on top of avo toast for a bit of crunch, protein and awesome omegz, make jam for lazy people. Seriously so versatile.

Chia seed parfaits are my go-to when I want to make a delicious and impressive looking breakfast or dessert for people! I soak the chia seeds in almond milk and then stir through the seeds of a vanilla bean and a touch of coconut nectar. Then I simply layer the chia mixture with layers of fresh berries, coconut yogurt, chopped pecans and goji berries! Topped with fresh mint and a scatter of coconut, this is one treat that everyone loves!
