I posted a little while ago on my Instagram Story that I had a new makeup routine on the go and you guys seemed super interested to hear more about it, so here I am giving the people what they want!
It’s summer here in Australia and with extreme heat, comes a lack of energy or care to put a whole tonne of effort into getting ready, when you’re going to sweat it all off in a nanosecond anyway. In a rush to get to work, I grabbed 5 key products I couldn’t live without and within 5 minutes I was ready to hit the road.
1. Primer
Until very recently, I didn’t really feel the need to wear primer. That was until I was on a mission to achieve dewy skin and found that a good, hydrating primer was just the ticket. I’ve found that the e.l.f Hydrating Face Primer ($16.00 AUD) is an awesome and affordable option to kick off this super simple routine and keep my skin looking fresh af all day.
2. Concealer or Foundation
Over the years I have found the whole foundation + concealer + powder routine a little tedious, so I very rarely use all three. Sometimes I’ll only use concealer and I’ve been loving the ColourPop No Filter Matte Concealer ($6.00 USD) as a really simple way to even out my skintone without any heavy product. For times I need a little extra coverage, I’ll use ColourPop No Filter Foundation Stix ($10.o0 USD) because it feels weightless on the skin but gives the extra coverage I’m after.
3. Highlight
I feel like this step is kinda important because if you intentionally make your skin look glowy, y0u can always just pretend that you’re not sweaty, just wearing a banging highlight. I add a dab to my cheekbones, brow bone and tip of the nose and at the moment I am vibing hard on the MECCA MAX Liquid Light in Gold ($25.00 AUD).
4. Brows
This one is optional if you’re down with your natural brow, but I still like to add a little shape and colour using a brow gel. I’ve been using ColourPop Brow Boss Gel ($6.00 USD) and love how precise the tiny brush is! It adds the perfect amount of natural colour and shape to the brow without looking super intense.
5. Mascara
My lashes barely exist, so as much as I would love to skip this step, it’s simply not possible. I’ve found that the Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara ($20.00-$42.00 AUD) holds up to sweatiness yet removes easily, plus it gives my lashes heaps of volume without looking clumpy.
