Coles Have Launched A New Vegan Range!

Friends. Listen up. Coles have recently launched a new range of their very own vegan products called Nature’s Kitchen and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited that a major supermarket is stepping up and creating tasty, accessible and affordable options so that more and more people can get amongst plant-based eating.

I’m not talking a few measly products here either, a whopping TWENTY new Nature’s Kitchen products are rolling out across shelves nationally (they’re probably there right now) and Coles reached out to see if I’d like to take some for a spin. Little 15 year old veggie Chelsey working behind the Coles checkouts wouldn’t have believed it you if you told her!

From what I can tell, it seems like the folks at Coles have put a fair bit of effort into creating a diverse range of 100% plant based products, that are not only delish but packed full of fibre and protein too. I was stoked to see elements of meals like Curried Pumpkin Corn Burgers and Organic Silken Tofu,  but ready-made meals too, like 3 Bean Meat-Free Balls + Penne.

On that note, you’ve really gotta take the Coles Nature’s Kitchen Vegetable Lasagne ($7.00) for a spin. The perfect lazy meal, I was actually super impressed by the taste and texture. The béchamel is creamy, the tomato and veg sauce is perfectly tangy and the whole thing develops a nice little crust as its baked in the oven. Also the serving size is HUGE, so I reckon you could squeeze two servings out of the one packet if you combined it with the right sides.

I don’t reckon you can ever have too many vegan burger options on the market and the Coles Nature’s Kitchen Smokey Grill Meat-Free Burgers ($5.00) are well and a welcome addition to shelves all over the country. I would describe the taste and texture as a bit of a tradish veggie burger and meaty burger hybrid; stack your fave salads, sauces and vegan cheese on a bun and you’ve just made an easy weeknight dinner.

The biggest surprise for me were the Coles Nature’s Kitchen Chicken Style Meat-Free Tenders ($6.00) because they’re great in both the flavour and texture departments. I can’t even begin to tell you how versatile I reckon these babies could be, but I am going to try anyway. They’d make a mean chicken, lettuce and mayo sanga and a great chicken replacement in a curry or pasta and tbh, they are even fantastic on their own served with some celery and sriracha for a super simple meal.

Are you ready to step up your barbecue game? The Coles Nature’s Kitchen Original Meat-Free Sausages ($6.00) will help you do just that. Kinda like the burgers, they are like a meaty sausage and veggie sausage rolled into one and perfect served with a side of veggies or in a bun with fried onion and BBQ sauce.

So, what’s my verdict on Nature’s Kitchen? Based solely on the four products I’ve tried, I’m genuinely impressed by the taste and texture of the products; you can tell a lot of work has gone into developing them. I will absolutely be adding some to my regular grocery shop and am looking forward to sampling more along the way.

Have you tried any of the Nature’s Kitchen range yet? If so, what did you think? If not, what are you most excited to try?

I’m very happy to see these in shops! I have tried the lasagne, though I did the microwave option because I was short on time. I liked it though, and definitely keen to try it in the oven! Though I found the serving size a bit on the small side… I guess I was hungry. 😉 I have also tried the penne and meatballs, which are nice. And I am definitely keen to try those chicken tenders and the burgers and the sausages and the… well, you get the idea. 😉

Right?! The vegetarian/vegan section of my local Coles is HUGE now. The lasagne is awesome for a quick and easy meal, so glad to hear it’s a hit in the microwave as well. I guess portion sizes are kinda different for everyone but I don’t think I could eat that much pasta in one serving (for some reason pasta-based dishes are super filling for me!)

Thanks again for another lovely comment, Susan! You’re a legend!comment image
