Creamy Cheese Sauce

This #Tofriday is for the people who think they don’t have a need for tofu in their life! Sure, tofu makes a premium substitute for meat protein in just about any dish, but did you know it can also be a killer replacement for dairy?
The star of today’s show is silken tofu because it adds the perfect amount of creamth to make this cheese sauce shine. The possibilities are endless with this one: pour it over vegetables, use it for mac & cheese or top your next batch of nachos!
Ingredients
- 600g silken tofu
- 1 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon mild miso paste
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon corn flour (this is optional but it will help thicken)
Method
- Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, processing until smooth and creamy.
- Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and add the mixture, continually whisking until the sauce has heated through and thickened.
- Serve immediately with vegetables or add to mac and cheese!
