If you’re a long-term vegan like me (coming up on 13 years OMG), you’ll remember a time when finding affordable vegan products like shampoo and conditioner was near impossible, let alone at your local supermarket!

Times, they are a changin’, and thanks to brands like OC Naturals, vegan-friendly lifestyle products are not only easy to find, you don’t have to compromise on quality for affordable products.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been trialling the Coco Repair range of organic shampoo and conditioner. The Coco Repair Shampoo and Conditioner ($3.50 AUD), aim to strengthen and nourish your hair thanks to KeraDyn (a fancy natural conditioning agent) and Organic Coconut Oil.

To get a solid idea of how this stuff compares, I worked the products into my existing haircare routine. First, I used my regular toning shampoo and then did my second wash with the Coco Repair Shampoo. I followed up with the Coco Repair Conditioner and my fave leave-in treatment before blow drying my hair.

The Coco Repair Shampoo lathers up really nicely and leaves my hair feeling fresh and clean, while the Coco Repair Conditioner hits me with a moisture boost but doesn’t leave my hair feeling heavy or greasy, just the faint pleasant scent of coconut.

And if coconut isn’t your thing, there’s the a heap of other haircare products in the OC Naturals range to tickle your follicle fancy. For example, there’s the Silky Smooth range, with Lotus Extract and Organic Moringa Oil, the Kids range with incredible scents like popcorn (I KNOW!) and even an Anti Dandruff Conditioning Shampoo for any of you out there trying to get dandruff under control. They also make Body Wash and Hand Wash if you’re wanting to give your entire bathroom a cruelty-free and vegan makeover!

Granted, I only wash my hair once a week (don’t hate me!) but I’m really enjoying the products so far, especially considering the price. To be honest, at this point I don’t see a massive difference between the OC Naturals products I’ve been trialling and the more expensive shampoo and conditioner I have been using for the past several months.

For me, the vegan-ness, affordability and accessibility of OC Naturals makes them a great option but they are doing some great stuff in the sustainability space too! All of their packaging is made from recycled materials and can be recycled again after use, plus they’ve installed solar panels in an effort to reduce their carbon emissions by 1,000 tonnes per year. Not bad when you consider there are much more expensive brands doing absolutely nothing to combat the climate crisis, or offer quality vegan products!

If you’ve been looking for an inexpensive haircare option, pick up a couple of bottles of OC Naturals on your next trip to the supermarket. At that price, it’s absolutely worth a try!
