Do you ever have those moments in the kitchen where a random idea turns into a delicious af reality? This is one of those moments, you guys. I whipped up these hella tasty Gluten Free Onion Rings with the help of a couple of products from Orgran, which you can find in most major supermarkets.
Ingredients
- 2 small brown onions
- 1 1/2 cups Orgran Crispi Corn Breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 1/2 tablespoons Orgran Vegan Easy Eggâ„¢
- 200mL non-dairy milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
Method
- Peel the onions and cut off the ends before slicing into rounds about 1cm thick.
- Pop out the layers to create a series of rings (keep even the tiny ones).
- In a shallow dish, mix together the Orgran Crispi Corn Breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon of salt and the pepper.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together the Orgran Vegan Easy Eggâ„¢ and non-dairy milk until smooth.
- Dip each ring of onion in the Orgran Vegan Easy Eggâ„¢ mixture to coat completely before dipping into the Orgran Crispi Corn Breadcrumbs mixture to coat completely. Set aside and repeat with the remaining onion rings.
- Heat the oil in a medium-sized frypan on medium-high heat. Add a few onion rings to the pan (don’t overcrowd it!) and cook until golden on one side, flip and then cook on the other side until golden.
- Carefully remove from the saucepan and allow to drain on paper towel. Repeat with the remaining onion rings until they are all cooked.
- Serve immediately with your fave sauce!
